Omega 3 with Turmeric

Omega-3 with Turmeric

DOUBLE Your Protection

The science of the immune system is still very much in its infancy and we witnessing great strides being made each year. One of the topics gaining more and more attention in immunology is the role inflammation plays in affecting our health. Most of us when we think of inflammation we think of problems like aches and pains, arthritis or even infection. However, research has shown us that inflammation in intimately related to heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and more. Even the aging process itself has been termed “a chronic inflammatory state”.

One natural substance that has gone through enormous scientific scrutiny over the past decade is fish oil. You may remember your Mom pushing cod-liver oil on the kids, but our understanding and application of fish oil has come a long way since then! We now know that the great benefits of fish oil come from what are called “Omega-3 Fatty Acids” – an enormously popular supplement.

Another natural product called “Turmeric” or “Curcumin” is literally under the microscope of scientists for its ability to address inflammation, particularly in the brain and nervous system. Every month, a plethora of articles are published on this plant extract.

Immunotec offers you the advantage of combining both these natural substances together. Double your protection!

The Omega-3 Turmeric 1-2 Punch!

Luckily, there’s an alternative for people who want to increase their consumption of omega-3 fatty acids and turmeric without eating curried sardines. Immunotec’s Omega-3 with Turmeric is a superior-quality source of omega-3 fatty acids for the maintenance of heart and brain function and is certified free of contaminants.

Research shows that fish oil is the superior source of omega-3 and each soft gel of our supplement contains cold-pressed Norwegian fish oil (anchovy, mackerel, and sardine) and turmeric to provide 270 mg of EPA, 180 mg of DHA, and 95 mg of curcuminoid. In addition, the synergistic combination of fish oil and turmeric results in enhanced absorption of the turmeric.

The Science of Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are vital to human health, and have a role in the function of almost every cell in the human body. Thousands of research articles have been published touching upon a vast range of topics including cardiovascular disease, cholesterol problems, and many other of the major health issues that plague North Americans.

Many areas of the world where fish consumption has been traditionally higher have shown lowered incidence of heart disease and related problems. Many years of investigating this phenomenon has resulted in the understanding that certain fats found in fish have had a protective effect on these populations. It has become quite clear in the past few years that not all fats are bad, and these omega-3 fats in particular are vital to our health and can actually counteract some of the damage done by “bad” fats like cholesterol.

Because of these findings, the FDA suggests that products containing omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, and other institutions are encouraging that we increase the amount of deep-water fish that we eat. To meet the American Heart Association’s recommendation that we eat at least two fish meals per week, many people increase their consumption of popular fish such as salmon. Unfortunately, increased fish consumption can also lead to increased exposure to heavy metals, such as mercury, from pollution. Some nutritionists in fact warn pregnant women and children to set limits on fish consumption. How to get around this paradox? Use high-quality fish oil with strict quality-control to remove toxins. Immunotec’s Omega-3 daily supplement is equivalent to a 4-ounce serving of wild salmon, without the mercury!

The Science of Turmeric

Just as the low incidence of heart disease in certain populations encouraged researchers to explore the benefits of fatty fish consumption, scientists are looking into dietary factors that could account for the impressive levels of high-functioning mental and physical activity in the aging Asian Indian population.

A potential explanation for this phenomenon is the local use of curry (a combination of spices that contain “turmeric” also called “curcurmin”) for flavor and as a natural preservative. Turmeric has a long history of traditional use in both Ayurvedic (Indian) and Chinese Medicine, and contributes the yellow color to curry.

Features

  • High-quality source of Omega-3 fatty acids from cold-pressed Norwegian fish oil (anchovy, mackerel, and sardines)
  • Certified free of contaminants
  • Synergistic combination of fish oil and turmeric results in enhanced absorption of the turmeric.

Benefits

Research has convincingly shown the potential benefits of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) found in cold-water fish. These benefits include:

  • Supporting cardiovascular function
  • Maintaining brain health, positive mood and memory
  • Helps to benefit joint health
  • Supports immune health
  • Supports prostate health in men
  • Helps women with common symptoms of PMS or menopause

Highlight Ingredients

  • Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil. Specifically, Immunotec Omega-3 provides 540 mg of EPA and 360 mg of DHA per serving from a pure source of deep-water fish. This is about the same amount found in a 3-4 ounce serving of wild salmon.
  • Turmeric extract (Curcuma longa). Immunotec Omega-3 contains a potent extract standardized to 95% curcuminoids. Turmeric has a long history of traditional use in both Ayurvedic (Indian) and Chinese Medicine, and contributes the yellow color to curry. Modern science has shown that this plant (specifically the curcuminoids it contains) has potent antioxidant properties, and supports the health of the brain, heart, blood vessels, immune system, skin and liver.* Moreover, research has shown that turmeric helps to protect delicate fats like those in fish oil from becoming rancid. These properties make it an excellent complement to the properties of the omega-3 oils.
  • The specific combination of turmeric with fish oil (lipid base) contributes to enhanced absorption of the turmeric.
